What are your thoughts about the medium of the paste-up?
It’s great. It keeps coming back as a way to quickly get a message or an image up on the street. I first started using it in 2004, at a time when the paste up and street art scene was booming in Melbourne. Then again in 2012 in Europe when I traveled and lived in Amsterdam, then again in 2013 in Melbourne and Adelaide, and again and again and again.
One special memory is being in Barcelona, having been sick with the Spanish man flu for 4 days. I came out misery and had one day left, I went through the city with my lady pasting work to electricity boxes, walls, anything that represented a hard surface down malls and shopping districts in broad day light with people streaming past. It’s a magical way to be ‘up’ without anyone batting an eyelid.

Tell us about your studio/where you make your art.
Currently it’s my home studio, I had a solo show in Paris earlier his year, and I also popped the question while I was over there, so I’ve brought everything back to home base to be an engaged domestic man. My lovely lady also assists me in production and in the practical management, helping me pay parking tickets, sending out prints, and chatting to galleries etc while I draw, paint, talk about ideas and the next adventure. Did I mention I’m marrying her?

What will you be sending us for this year's PASTE MODERNISM?
I’ve sent a series of posters from my trip through Europe in 2012, I took photos of famous European artworks, and re appropriated them in black and white with art clichés and random streams of consciousness. Lucie and me put these posters up through Madrid, Barcelona, Perugia etc then Paris, Amsterdam, London. She got so sick of me looking for large scale printers… She also came out with me until one sometime two in the morning. She is a machine.

What other projects/exhibitions/events are coming up for you soon?
A group show in Amsterdam early Jan, a project with a group in San Francisco, a solo show in Hong Kong (fingers crossed) and a trip through America next year most likely to put some more paste ups on electricity boxes.
