Interview with: NEIL EDWARDS
Your location: Lattitude 34° 0 S Longitude 151° 0 E
What is the medium you most like to work in?
I love print. Mainly screen print but I like any analog technologies where mistakes can lead to new discoveries. I am also doing a bit more stencil work.
What are your thoughts about the medium of the paste-up?
You can’t be too precious. Its fast and furious but its a great opportunity to try new things out and play with size and scale.
Tell us about your studio/where you make your art.
It is the nerve centre of Mr. Edwards’ global operations. A giant network of underground bunkers - although my working space is on the small side as I am hemmed in on all sides by heavily armed stormtroopers and piles of clutter that I have collected over the years. However for some reason this is resulting in the scale of my work getting larger.
What will you be sending us for this year’s PASTE MODERNISM?
A combination of Some new stuff and some old favorites. My strategy this year is varying sizes and and lots of copies of each in the hope that at least some will remain visible.
What other projects/exhibitions/events are coming up for you soon?
I have been doing a few joint projects and exhibitions recently - Mike Watt’s Tattoo me book, Stencil Art prize, Rock Screen Paper 3 ‘Supervene” which so far has toured Sydney, Singapore and Wollongong
